KANOWIT, Dec 18: Incumbent for Machan, Allan Siden Gramong, came to aid people with disabilities by providing wheelchairs at the voting station at SJK Yee Ting today.

When he learned that there were no wheelchairs at the voting station, he immediately called up members from the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Machan operations room to send the two units.

Seeing that it was not enough for use, he requested the Kanowit District Office to lend two additional units.

At about 9am, a People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela) member and an Election Commission (EC) officer helped a voter to the voting station as a wheelchair was not available.

Bahar Mat, 52, from Kampung Hilir near here, is a stroke victim and has difficulty in terms of mobility.

“When I arrived here, I had to sit down first as there was no wheelchair available,” he said.

He said despite being handicapped, he is happy to be able to exercise his right to vote. ā€• DayakDaily
