KUCHING, Oct 10: Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) activist Zainnal Ajamain passed away this morning due to a heart attack.

According to a report by news portal The Vibes earlier, the activist breathed his last at his Damai Luyang home in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah at about 3am.

His body is expected to be laid to rest in Putatan, Sabah today.

Zainnal served as an advisor to the Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan)-led State government in the federal-State MA63 talks and was very vocal and passionate in educating Sabahans on matters pertaining to the agreement.

Senator Robert Lau Hui Yew in a Facebook post today expressed his sadness upon receiving the news of Zainnal’s passing.

ā€œI called him the father of MA63 awakening. About 7 years ago, he (Zainnal) set out on a mission to raise awareness on MA63 and how the Borneo States were shortchanged by Malaya.

ā€œI attended the first talk he did in Kuching organised by Sarawak United Peoplesā€™ Party (SUPP). I was taken in and read his book, ‘The Queen’s Obligation’. After that I helped to organise a series of talks by him. Later I took on the work of giving talks on this issue (MA63) myself.

ā€œThe last time we shared the same platform was at University College of Technology Sibu in 2019,ā€ he said.

Lau also mentioned that whenever he needed information or clarification on MA63 issues, he would reach out to Zainnal.

ā€œThank you Zainnal for your pioneering and passionate work. Rest in peace,ā€ he added. ā€” DayakDaily
