KUCHING, March 30: A 34-year-old lorry driver suffered severe injuries in a road accident along Jalan Kemena in Balingian.
According to a report from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operation centre, Bomba Tatau was deployed to the location after receiving a call regarding the accident at 8.50am today.
The operation commander at the location reported that the accident involved two 10-tonne lorries, which resulted in the victim being pinned inside the lorry’s cockpit.
The other lorry driver, a 39-year-old man, only suffered minor injuries and managed to get out of the vehicle by himself.
After a size-up, firefighters proceeded to extract the victim using rescue tools. The victim was later handed over to medical personnel from the Ministry of Health for further action.
Firefighters also cleaned up debris and oil spills resulting from the accident and ended the operation at 10.12am after ensuring the situation was safe for road users. — DayakDaily
