KUCHING, June 30: The Magistrate’s Court sentenced a lorry driver to 12 months imprisonment on the charge of sexually assaulting a married woman.
The 47-year-old accused pleaded guilty to the charge framed under Section 354 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum penalty of ten years imprisonment, a fine, whipping, or any combination of these punishments upon conviction.
Magistrate Zaiton Anuar found him guilty as charged and sentenced the accused to 12 months imprisonment, starting from the date of arrest on June 18.
He was found to have intentionally outraged the modesty of a 47-year-old married woman by forcibly touching her breast and inserting his private part into her mouth in the restroom of a village hall in Lundu at around 3.26am on June 18.
It was understood that the accused was also under the influence of alcohol during the incident.
The medical examination report showed that the victim suffered minor injuries due to the incident.
Prosecuting Officer Inspector Merylene Lindan Andrew Mang handled the prosecution, while the accused was not represented by counsel. — DayakDaily
