SIBU, Aug 21: The Sarawak Dayak National Union (SDNU) has been told to establish an e-commerce platform to help develop the economic wellbeing of the Dayak community.
Katibas assemblyman Lidam Assan said that the union must function in line with the latest technological advances that require a digital-based economy.
“SDNU can play a role like ‘Shopee’ which can help market the products of the Dayak community to the world.
“We can set up ‘SDNU Market Place’ on social media or become a digital marketing centre for these products,” he said speaking at the Economic Development Seminar organised by SDNU Sibu together with the Sibu District Agriculture Department, Borneo MA Smart Vendors Sdn Bhd and DA Virtual Sdn Bhd at Rumah SDNU Sibu yesterday evening.
He said SDNU needs to have many networks and cooperation with various related parties if it wants to explore the platform more deeply.
According to him, the union needs to be more proactive in becoming a trade ‘centre’ for the Dayak community by providing the platform facilities.
“These entrepreneurs only need to place their products at SDNU to be marketed. SDNU will do marketing for the product, in a digital way for example.
“Therefore in the new way business, we need to have a sufficient, good and strong network with various related parties to move towards the new way so that it can benefit the Dayak economy,” he stressed. — DayakDaily
