KUCHING, Nov 5: Incumbent Datuk Wilson Ugak Kumbong (GPS-PRS) will once again face off with Abun Sui Anyit (PH-PKR) in P216 Hulu Rajang in a straight fight.

Election Commission (EC) returning officer Robert Liman, who made the announcement at Kapit Civic Centre today, said all nomination papers have been certified and were accepted.

Ugak, who is a two-term Member of Parliament (MP) of Hulu Rejang, was accompanied by proposer Dennis Abit and seconder TR Inguh Miut when he arrived to submit his nomination paper.

Abun Sui, who is PKR Sarawak’s information chief, was with proposer Annie Amat and seconder Bernard Bungkong.

The longtime rivals will be squaring it out for the third time in this 15th General Election (GE15).

They first faced each other in the 2013 general election, joined by the then Sarawak Workers Party (SWP) candidate George Lagong.

Ugak and Abun Sui continued to meet in the 2018 general election, this time in a straight fight. Ugak defended the seat with a 6,315 majority. He garnered 11,834 votes against Abun Sui, who obtained 5,519 votes.
