Longhouses under lockdown part of 2 new Covid-19 clusters in Bintulu

KUCHING, Sept 9: Two community cluster have formed in Bintulu involving 58 positive Covid-19 cases from two longhouses.

According to the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in the state’s daily Covid-19 report today, the first cluster, dubbed the Sungai Segan Cluster, involved residents from a longhouse undergoing the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) in Sungai Segan, along Ulu Sebauh road.

“From the total of 47 individuals screened, 25 of them tested positive for Covid-19, including the index case, while 22 others tested negative, and 24 new cases were reported from the cluster today,” it said.


The committee revealed that the second cluster dubbed the Jalan Bintulu-Miri Dua Cluster, involved residents of a longhouse located in Batu 17, along Bintulu-Miri road, also undergoing the EMCO.

“Out of 125 individuals tested, 33 of them including the index case tested positive for Covid-19, whole 92 others individuals tested negative, and a total of 32 new positive cases were reported from the cluster today,” the statement read.

SDMC added all positive cases from both clusters were brought to Bintulu Hospital and Covid-19 low-risk treatment and quarantine centres (PKRC) in the district for isolation and further treatment. — DayakDaily
