He said, members of the Song Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) received an emergency call from the public about the incident at 11.17pm.

A total of seven firefighters led by PB Hadie Morat in a fire engine were immediately despatched to the Song Jetty.

“The caller said the victims were on their way to Song town from Rumah Ekeh, Nanga Pan, Song.

“On arrival at the mouth of Sungai Song, the boat sunk. Six victims managed to save themselves while one male victim is still missing,” he said.

He stated that one of the survivors contacted a family member (the caller) who was in Song town who then alerted the fire department.

“Arriving at the Song Jetty, the firefighters asked for help from the public who happened to be at the jetty to pick up two survivors at the mouth of Sungai Song using a boat as the victims were unconscious.

“The duo were referred to Song Health Clinic for treatment,” he said.
