KUCHING May 18: Deputy Minister of Public Health, Housing And Local Government II Michael Tiang Ming Tee says the Long Napir clinic project was re-tendered in 2020 as the prices quoted by contractors were higher than the ceiling cost.
However, he said the Federal Tender Procurement Board decided on Nov 4, 2021, for a second re-tender exercise to enable the project to proceed.
“Preliminary Detailed Abstract (PDA) was submitted to the Ministry of Health (MOH) in March 2022. However, after a site visit on March 2023, MOH requested JKR (Public Works Department) Sarawak to re-submit a new estimation cost and PDA.”
Tiang was responding to a question from Batu Danau assemblyman Paulus Palu Gumbang on the project that has been abandoned and when the project could be continued at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting here today.
Tiang explained that the second re-tender process will only be carried out after obtaining approval from the Economic Planning Unit of the Prime Minister’s Department.
“The re-tender process will be carried out by the Sarawak Public Works Department after a new Preliminary Detailed Abstract (PDA) from the department is submitted to the Federal Ministry of Health,” he said. — DayakDaily
