KUCHING: The runway of the Kuching International Airport (KIA) was closed earlier this evening when a Beechcraft King Air plane skidded upon landing, reports website Sarawak Voice.
According to a source, the incident took place between runway A1 and A2, causing all arriving flights to be diverted to Sibu Airport.
A tower officer received an emergency call from the flight with registration number 9MWSK around 6.06pm before activating the emergency button.
It is believed that the plane which was owned by Hornbill Skyways and travelling from Mukah to Kuching had Minister of Welfare, Community Well Being, Women, Family and Childhood Development Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah on board.
“No injuries and we are all ok,” she was reported to have told friends through a WhatsApp message.
