Lee: RM25m Kuala Baram erosion control project to begin on Nov 16

MIRI, 5 Nov: The RM25 million project to build an erosion control project at the Kampung Batu 1, Kuala Baram fishing boats landing area is to commence on Nov 16.

The project has been approved under the 11th Malaysia Plan (11th MP), According to Minister for Transport Sarawak, Datuk Lee Kim Shin disclosed.

It is scheduled for completion in November 2022 and once completed it will protect the area from erosion.


Lee disclosed this on Thursday (October 5), after witnessing the handing over of the construction site by Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID) Sarawak director Datu Chok Moi Soon to the contractor, Mechunma Sdn Bhd , represented by its director Suzie Raniah Ra’ee.

“On completion, it shall mitigate the erosion and flooding problem in that area,” Lee said.

The project’s scope of works includes the construction of a 200-meter shore-based structure which will protect the coast from erosion. – DayakDaily
