MIRI, March 23: A 33-year-old Politeknik Mukah lecturer died in a two-car collision at Miri Bypass last night.
The deceased has been identified as Saloma Emang.
State Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said the two ill-fated vehicles collided head-on near Kampung 1Malaysia at about 8.30pm.
“Saloma died while receiving treatment at Miri Hospital,” he said.
Preliminary investigation showed that the tragedy happened when a car driven by a 49-year-old man veered towards the opposite lane and rammed into the vehicle Saloma was in.
“The man was heading towards the airport from Pujut when he suddenly went into the opposite lane and crashed onto the female’s car,” said Alexson.
The case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. — DayakDaily
