KUCHING, Aug 6: The Land Custody and Development Authority (LCDA) handed over food aid under the #LCDAprihatin initiative to 143 residents from Tabuan Park Flat, Kuching and penambang operators from Kampung Seberang Hulu and Kampung Seberang Hilir who are affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Through this programme, LCDA has provided food assistance such as rice, sugar, flour and more with a total worth of RM14,300.

LCDA Corporate Affairs Division senior manager Saiful Bahari Amra Ramly said the implementation of the Movement Control Order (MCO) has caused devastating implications on the livelihoods of many Malaysians.

“With the number of daily new cases rising rapidly and more implementation of the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) within the vicinity of Kuching division, we believe that we must assist one another in any way we can.

“The assistance is intended to relieve the burden of some individuals who were hit hardest by the Covid-19 pandemic and also provide the opportunity to enhance the relationship between LCDA and the local community involved,” he said in a statement today.

The #LCDAPrihatin programme is a newly initiated ongoing activity that will continue to assist families, especially those from LCDA’s project area.

In the light of the current Covid-19 pandemic, the handover of food pantry donations was carried out in full compliance with the standard operating procedures (SOP).

The donations were presented by LCDA Land Management Division senior manager Bibi Umizah Osman and Saiful in a ceremony held at the compound of the Tabuan Park Flat.

Also present were Tabuan Park Kuching Development and Security Committee (JKKK) representative Datuk Paruwadi Musa, Penghulu Jas Said and Kuching South City Council (MBKS) councillor Sebali Chik. – DayakDaily
