Layar Education Development Committee donates Huawei tablets to 3 schools in Betong

KUCHING, Oct 1: The Layar Education Development Committee (LEDC) has donated Huawei MatePad T tablets to three secondary schools in Betong for the use of their teachers and students.

The symbolic handover of tablets was officiated by Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Dato Gerald Rentap Jabu, who is also Layar assemblyman on Friday (Sept 30).

The three beneficiary schools are SMK Ulu Layar, SMK St Augustine Betong, and SMK Datuk Patinggi Kedit, with a total of 92 Form 4 teachers and 360 Form 4 students.

According to a news report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), Rentap said the donations in recent years aim to empower digital learning among students in Betong.

He also said that a workshop on the use of tablets in the teaching and learning process was conducted by Huawei on Sept 21 and 22, and attended by all teachers involved.

Meanwhile, school representatives expressed their appreciation to Rentap and LEDC who always come up with initiatives to assist the education field in Betong. — Dayakdaily
