Lawas residents receive RM17.1 mln in land compensation for devt projects

KUCHING, Dec 2: Residents of Lawas have received a total of RM17.1 million in land compensation following the implementation of six development projects.

According to a news report from the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) today, Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said the compensations were made in accordance with the law and the current market rate.

He added that cooperation from the local residents was essential to ensure that the implemented projects were not interrupted.


“We will pay compensation for land that is acquired for development projects,” he told reporters when met after launching the Anjung Usahawan Kampung Long Tuan and compensation cheque presentation ceremony for Lawas district project in Lawas on Friday (Dec 1). — DayakDaily
