KUCHING, Dec 2: The Kuching South City Council (MBKS) has initiated its dog neutering campaign, which offers an RM100 subsidy for the procedure, and registration for 150 slots is now open.

Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng emphasised that the neutering campaign is exclusively for dogs, and the procedure must be completed before Dec 24, 2023, at an assigned panel vet clinic.

“The registration is based on a first-come, first-served basis with 150 slots available at designated veterinary clinics within Kuching city.

“Only pet owners living within MBKS areas are eligible to participate in this campaign.

“Additionally, each household is only allowed to register a maximum of three dogs for this campaign,” he informed during his ShallWeeTalk online session today.

As for the eligibility criteria for dogs, they must be six months or older, possess a valid license registered under the Council, and received its anti-rabies vaccination and microchipping.

Upon successful registration for the neutering procedure, Wee said pet owners will receive a RM100 voucher to be presented at the assigned vet clinic to get the discount during their visit.

Pet owners are obliged to adhere to the allocation of a panel vet clinic.

“Hopefully, the voucher can cover half of the neutering procedure’s cost, and any amount exceeding RM100 would be the pet owner’s responsibility,” he added.

Pet owners should note that there may be additional charges for pregnant animals and animals on heat.

“We hope pet owners will take this opportunity to have their pets neutered. This is part of the ongoing efforts in the fight against rabies in the MBKS area and Sarawak as a whole,” he urged.

The registration forms can be obtained from the MBKS One Stop Centre service counter. — DayakDaily
