DEBAK, Oct 29: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) is gearing up with a “fight to the very end” mentality to knock out all Opposition and Independent contenders in the coming 15th General Election, which will poll on Nov 19.

Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said this is because GPS wants to win as many of the 31 seats at stake, which is crucial to emerging stronger and respected, and governing Sarawak well.

“We will lawan tetap lawan (fight to the end) to achieve our objective. This will allow us to continue with ongoing efforts to restore more rights for Sarawak under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) that had been eroded,” he said in a statement today.

He highlighted this when launching the Village Security and Development Committee (JKKK) and Women Bureau of Rh Denil Ranti in Menyalin Baru here.

With a bountiful harvest of seats, Uggah emphasised that the Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, could then focus on how to generate more income for Sarawak.

“When this could be done, we could have greater funds to bring more developments, progress, and prosperity for Sarawak and its people,” he added.

Uggah, who is also GPS parliamentary election director, thus called on all members and supporters to continue to remain strongly united and give their undivided support to all GPS candidates.

“Let us come together again to defend GPS solidly. Let us make it grow from strength to strength,” he urged.

Meanwhile, Uggah also reminded the people to always take good care of their health as the Covid-19 pandemic is still around, with 55 positive cases recorded today.

“So my advice is to not crowd into one place. Wear face masks in crowded situations,” he advised.

Earlier, Uggah, accompanied by Saribas assemblyman Mohd Razi Sitam and political secretary to the Sarawak Premier Dr Richard Rapu, also attended a meet-the-people session at the Millenia Hall in Saribas town. — DayakDaily
