Landslide kills Indonesian installing underground pipes at Bandar Baru Semariang

Rescue workers extracting the Indonesian worker who was buried in a landslide at Bandar Baru Semariang.

KUCHING, May 25: An Indonesian worker was killed after he was buried 10 feet under a landslide at Bandar Baru Semariang today.

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre in a statement disclosed that they received the emergency alert via MERS 999 at 5.12pm.

The victim was reportedly working on underground pipe installation at a roundabout at Jalan Sultan Tengah when the incident occurred.


It took a team of firefighters from Petra Jaya station led by PBK II Noorudin Ismail Talab about 10 minutes to extract the 25-year old victim.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel. — DayakDaily
