SIBU, Jan 16: Residents of the 20-door Rumah Akok, Tabau Sedanau, Stapang Oya are living in fear after a landslide occurred yesterday.
Sibu Rural District Councilor Christopher Kusa who oversees the area said he has contacted the concerned party for further action.
“I have requested the authorities from Selangau District Office to take initial action, and for subsequent action by JKR (Public Works Department) Sibu Division to safeguard the safety of local residents.
“The cause of the incident was reported as heavy rain a few days ago, which caused ground movement,” he said today.
Meanwhile, Tamin assemblyman Tamin Christopher Gira Sambang when contacted requested that the government agencies involved take immediate action to help the people affected by the current rainy season.
Sibu Rural District Council (SRDC) Public Works Division Standing Committee chairman Councilor David Entulu and Councilor Fidel Jack also inspected the situation. — DayakDaily
