KUCHING, Dec 8: The Land and Survey Department has clarified that a report which went viral on social media involving Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan distributing land titles in Bekenu was “baseless and unfounded”.
The department in a press statement today said the statement could cause confusion and uneasiness among the people of Sarawak.
As such, it explained that the photo which went viral was actually an event that Awang Tengah attended to distribute Section 13 and Section 18 land titles held at ParkCity Everly Hotel in Bintulu on Dec 1.
At the event, a total of 358 land titles under Section 13 and Section 18 were handed out involving 320 landowners (89.4 per cent) from the Iban community and the balance of 38 (10.6 per cent) landowners from the Malay/Melanau and Penan Muslim.
It added the land titles under Section 18 of the Native Customary Right (NCR) Phase Two involved four areas in Tatau which are Sg Annao, Sg Kelawit, Sg Selitut-Separai and Kuala Tatau.
As for Section 13 land titles, it involved the former area of Jalan Bintulu-Miri. ā DayakDaily
