KUCHING, Dec 21: Lanang MP Alice Lau’s appointment as the Dewan Rakyat Deputy Speaker is proof that the unity government recognises women’s abilities in administration, says Deputy Minister of Law, MA63 and State-Federal Relations Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali.
“I am confident that she (Lau) is capable of working together with everyone to ensure the smooth running of Parliament sessions.
“And we appreciate the trust given by all Members of Parliament who supported her,” she said, in welcoming Lau’s recent appointment.
Meanwhile, Sharifah Hasidah said Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) supports the unity government for political stability.
She said Sarawakians realise that too much politicking would not solve any problems faced by the country.
“We need to show support to the unity government because we want political stability. With political stability, we can focus on developing the country,” she said, according to a news report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) today.
