KUCHING, May 4: The inaugural Lan Berambeh Anak Sarawak 2025 – United Kingdom (UK) Edition is set to become an annual event following the strong turnout and enthusiastic participation from Sarawakian students abroad.
Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg made the announcement during a brief address at the Majlis Makan Malam Anak Sarawak (Sarawak Students’ Gala Dinner) held in London on Saturday evening (local time).
“After discussions with my fellow Cabinet Ministers from Sarawak who are here with me, we have agreed to establish Lan Berambeh Anak Sarawak UK Edition as an annual event starting next year,” he said, adding that the 2026 edition will be held in Manchester.
The announcement reaffirms the Sarawak government’s commitment to maintaining the initiative as a platform for strengthening identity, building professional networks, and encouraging knowledge exchange among Sarawakian students overseas.
Beyond cultural celebration, the programme plays an important role in connecting the Sarawakian diaspora with the State government and creating space for dialogue on Sarawak’s inclusive and progressive future.
The gala dinner was a lively and colourful affair, reflecting Sarawak’s cultural richness and community spirit. It brought together hundreds of Sarawakian students from the United Kingdom, France, and Germany in a night of unity and pride in their shared heritage.
Also present were Deputy Premiers Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan and Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, Sarawak Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, several Deputy Ministers from Sarawak, and invited guests from various backgrounds. — DayakDaily
