KUALA LUMPUR, May 4: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has confirmed that he spoke with Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg yesterday (May 3) regarding matters involving Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS) and Petroleum Sarawak Berhad (Petros), based on principles that had been previously agreed upon.
In a statement today, Anwar said a follow-up discussion will be held as soon as the Sarawak Premier returns from his official visit to London, United Kingdom, to finalise the matter.
āIn the meantime, in the interest of all parties, any action or statement should be postponed,ā he said.
The Prime Minister expressed strong confidence that the issue could be resolved wisely through healthy and meaningful discourse.
āI have high confidence that this issue can be unravelled with wisdom, by standing firm on the path of respectful and meaningful dialogue, Insya-Allah,ā he added.
Earlier, during the Lan Berambeh Anak Sarawak 2025 United Kingdom Edition in London, Abang Johari revealed that he had received a phone call from Anwar, during which both leaders had reached a mutual understanding to move towards a resolution on the ongoing oil and gas issues. ā DayakDaily
