SIBU, Aug 23: Residents of a village in Belaga are perplexed over a lamp post which appears to be standing in the middle of a road there, posing a danger to motorists.
A resident, Clarence Chin had uploaded photos to his Facebook account showing the position of the lamp post.
Belaga police subsequently responded by placing a yellow non-entry tape around the lamp post.
A resident of the area who only wanted to be known as Tidom, said the less than 1km road in the village had just been resurfaced by the contractor.
“The lamp post was already there before the upgrading of the road. Just that photos of it has just gone viral,” he said.
He added that villagers have to exercise caution by lowering their speed when navigating that section of the road as they may encounter a surprise in the form of the awkwardly placed lamp post, especially at night.
Netizens have expressed their concern regarding the placement of the lamp post, and want the authorities to relocate it to the road shoulder before any untoward incidents happen. — DayakDaily
