Labourer fined RM3,000 for breaking rear car windshield with rubbish bin

KUCHING, May 2: The Magistrate’s Court sentenced a laborer to a fine of RM3,000 for throwing a rubbish bin at a car belonging to his former sister-in-law’s father.

Aloysius Elvin Martin, 25, from Kampung Menjau, pleaded guilty to the charge framed under Section 427 of the Penal Code for causing damage to the car.

Magistrate Zaiton Anuar convicted him as charged and sentenced him to a fine of RM3,000 or in default, six months’ imprisonment. Aloysius was found guilty of committing mischief by breaking the car’s rear windshield at a house in Jalan Landeh Rancangan Perumahan Rakyat (RPR) Phase 1 at about 10:30pm on April 27, 2023.

According to the brief facts of the case, the complainant who is the accused’s former sister-in-law, and her boyfriend saw Aloysius standing outside her house looking angry. They then saw him throw a rubbish bin at her father’s car, breaking the rear windshield and causing an estimated loss of RM600.

It was understood that Aloysius was unsatisfied that the complainant did not allow him to enter her house.

Inspector Merylene Lindan Andrew Mang prosecuted the case, while the accused was unrepresented by counsel. — DayakDaily
