Kuching’s Kampung Seratau Cluster adds 40 more cases to increase total to 392

KUCHING, Aug 6: No new Covid-19 clusters were reported in Sarawak today, though the Kampung Seratau Cluster in Kuching has swelled to 392 cases after 40 more infections were confirmed today.

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), in its daily updates on Covid-19 situation in Sarawak, reported that the Kampung Seratau Cluster was among the 13 active clusters which registered an increase in daily infections of 121 cases.

The Kampung Seratau Cluster, which involved a village under an extended lockdown order located at Batu 15, Jalan Kuching-Serian here, was only declared yesterday (Aug 5) after recording an alarming 352 cases.


A total of 1,084 individuals have been screened with 372 tested negative while 320 were still awaiting lab test results.

As of today, there are 192 active cases still receiving treatment and being isolated at hospital and Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centre (PKRC).

The other 12 clusters that added more cases today were Melikin Cluster in Serian which picked up 25 more cases; Tembok Miri Cluster in Miri (20 cases); Jalan Tatau-Selangan Cluster in Tatau (7 cases); Kandis Pantu Cluster in Sri Aman and Kampung Jawa Cluster in Kuching (6 cases each); Kampung Kendaie Cluster in Lundu (5 cases); Bunga Rampai Cluster in Bau, Kinda KM18 Cluster in Bintulu and Kampung Bintawa Ulu Cluster in Kuching (3 cases each); while Bedup Longgo Cluster in Serian, Jambatan Lemua Cluster in Beluru and Kampung Sebat Melayu Cluster in Lundu has one case each.

SDMC has also today declared the end of five clusters namely Kampung Sebandi Hilir in Lundu, Dulang in Subis, Jalan Tanjung Kidurong 3 in Bintulu, Kevok in Telang Usan and Jalan Sungai Antu in Sibu, after no new cases were recorded in the past 28 days.

With that, the number of active clusters in Sarawak has decreased to 85. — DayakDaily
