KUCHING, April 7: The Kuching Waterfront Cluster has officially ended today after no new Covid-19 cases were reported within the last 28 days.
Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) announced this in its latest update on Covid-19 situation in the State today.
The cluster emerged on March 9 after 21 individuals tested positive for Covid-19 following the mass gathering of nearly 50,000 people over four days at the Citrawarna Keluarga Malaysia event.
The index case of the cluster was a 45-year-old local man who tested positive through symptomatic screening at a private hospital on Feb 27.
The spread of infection was believed to have stemmed from close association and contact among attendees of the gathering which then spread up to the second generation of cases.
With that, Sarawak has five active clusters remaining, which did not record an increase in cases today.— DayakDaily
