Kuching Trade Importers and Exporters Association contributes significantly in promoting ties between Sarawak, China

KUCHING, July 8: The Kuching China Trade Importers and Exporters Association (KCTIEA) had made great contributions in promoting friendly economic and bilateral trade between China and Sarawak.

Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Kuching Xing Weiping highlighted this in commending KCTIEA for its monumental role, including in actively strengthening the bridge of friendship and trust between China and Sarawak, since its establishment 40 years ago.

A delegation from KCTIEA led by chairman Datuk Yii Ming Tang paid a courtesy call on the newly appointed Chinese Consulate General in Kuching recently.


According to a statement today, both parties had discussed the Association’s founding purpose as well as the current complex domestic and international situation and environment which have impacted businesses and economic growth such as disruption to supply chain during the meeting.

Other matters raised include human resources in the post-pandemic era, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), resumption of economic and trade growth post-pandemic and other trades related issues including Sarawak students returning to study in universities in China.

KCTIEA also reiterated its commitment to maintain a close working relationship with the Chinese Consulate-General in Kuching and to continue the traditional good cooperation to promote and enhance the economic and trade between Sarawak and China.

The KCTIEA delegation comprised honorary chairman Chai Foh Ngee, vice chairmen Datuk Seri Goh Kok kheng, Loh Siaw Kui  and Sim Swee Chai as well as secretary Sim Han Tong, treasurer Datuk Wong Joo Hua, Commercial Unit chairman Tan Hock Beng, and Digital Economy Unit chairman Dato Sim Kiang Chiok. — DayakDaily
