KUCHING, Sept 2: The Kuching Toastmasters Club is organising its 10th Youth Communication Camp (YCC) from Sept 16 to 18 at Borneo Happy Farm.
YCC 2022, headed by organising chairman Sahil Dev, will host more than 200 campers and 70 facilitators both local and overseas, including Myanmar, the United States of America, India, Nigeria, Canada, Australia, and Brunei Darussalam.
The principal facilitator of YCC is Mike Lim, a veteran broadcaster and former national news director of NTV7 and the author of the best-selling book ‘Public Speaking: Uncle Mike’s Recipe’.
The programmes designed by Lim will revolve around the YCC’s motto ‘Get a life and live the dream’ and cover public speaking, leadership development, and talent showcasing.
According to a statement today, the public speaking training will culminate in a speech competition, ‘Lend Me Your Ears’, which encompasses two main categories: Prepared Speech and Impromptu Speech.
The winner will be awarded the YB Karim Hamzah Challenge Shield, named after its patron Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, the Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts.
YCC Communications Director Eden Voon specially acknowledged the generous support of major sponsors such as the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, Mitsubishi Corporation, Sacofa Sdn Bhd, Sarawak Energy Berhad, Barron’s Private Space, Batu Lintang assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang, and Hock Seng Lee (HSL).
“Without their support, the Camp would have just remained a dream,” he said. — DayakDaily
