Kuching Teochew Association hopes to continue online dialect class after drawing enthusiastic response

KUCHING, June 18: The Kuching Teochew Association Cultural Committee completed its first online Teochew dialect training class today as part of the association’s efforts to promote the usage of the Teochew dialect among its members.

According to the association’s president Chew Boon Seng, it is also to maintain communication with their ancestral town, including preserving their culture and customs.

“The online Teochew language class received an enthusiastic response. Therefore, subsequent classes will be held after the review to consider continuing classes for adults and the younger generation,” he said in a statement today.

Participants received their certificates of completion which were handed over by Chew and cultural committee chairman Sim Hang Tong.

Chew also thanked the committee for its hard work organising the classes.
