KUCHING, Aug 24: Kuching, Serian, and Samarahan are among the 14 districts in Sarawak issued with thunderstorm warnings until 6pm today.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia), in an advisory notice issued at 3.15pm, said other districts affected are Asajaya, Sarikei, Pakan, Julau, Meradong, Sibu, Mukah, Matu, Dalat, Kapit, and Song.
According to the department, anticipated weather conditions include heavy rainfall and strong wind.
“A warning is issued when there are signs of a thunderstorm with rain intensity greater than 20mm/hour that is approaching or expected to last for more than an hour.
“A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning that is valid for a maximum of six hours per issuance,” it added. — DayakDaily
