Kuching, Miri log triple-digit cases as Sarawak’s daily total climbs to 713; 17 in critical stage

KUCHING, Oct 26: Kuching and Miri registered triple-digit daily cases today as Sarawak logged 713 total infections, an increase from 493 reported yesterday.

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement said from the total number of cases, 17 cases are classified as being in the critical stage.


Of this number, two patients who developed pneumonia but are able to breathe on their own are in Category 3, seven patients in Category 4 need oxygen supply, while eight Category 5 patients need a ventilator to breathe.

Meanwhile, the remaining 696 new cases are in Category 1 (no symptoms) and Category 2 (mild symptoms).

SDMC also disclosed that by district, Kuching took the lead with 206 cases, followed by Miri (142), Sibu (72), Bintulu (66), Serian (46), Lawas (44), Limbang (27), Samarahan (14), Saratok (10), Daro (10), Song (9), Meradong (8), Pusa (7), Bau (6), Sarikei (5), Kanowit (5), Kapit (4), Betong (4), Sri Aman (4), Asajaya (4), Julau (3), Subis (2), Bukit Mabong (2), Marudi (2), Beluru (2), Sebauh (2), Pakan (1), Simunjan (1), Lundu (1), Lubok Antu (1), Dalat (1), Tatau (1) and Selangau (1).

Seven other districts comprising Mukah, Tebedu, Matu, Tanjung Manis, Kabong, Telang Usan and Belaga did not record any new cases today.

On Covid-19 deaths, 22 fatalities were reported, bringing the death toll in Sarawak to 1,243.

At the same time, SDMC said there were no new clusters declared in Sarawak.

With this, there are a total of 36 active clusters in Sarawak. — DayakDaily
