KUCHING, Aug 11: The stage at Kuching Got Talent 2025 is more than just a platform, serving as a launchpad for hidden talents and a meeting point for community spirit, said Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng.

Standing in for Sarawak Deputy Premier and Minister for Public Health, Housing, and Local Government Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, Wee described the atmosphere in the theatre as “electric” and praised the organising committee for bringing the event to life.

“Kuching Got Talent is not just a show, it’s a celebration of creativity, courage, and community,” he said, adding that the event reflects MBKS’ commitment to ‘No One Left Behind’, where every citizen, young or old, is given the chance to shine.

“This is a powerful reminder that when we give people a chance, they can surprise us, inspire us, and make us proud,” he told the audience at the Kuching Got Talent 2025 competition at the MBKS Floating Theatre here last night (Aug 10).

Wee stressed that inclusivity is at the heart of MBKS’ work, ensuring opportunities for children, teenagers, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities to participate and showcase their abilities.

He also called for more venues such as community halls, theatres, and youth hubs to be alive with arts, music, and dance, as a way to nurture talent, foster unity, and strengthen community ties.

“To all our performers tonight, you have lit up the stage and captured our hearts. You are proof that the future of Sarawak is bright,” Wee added. — DayakDaily
