KUCHING, July 19: Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg says the Kuching General Post Office building is on the list of buildings to be reclaimed from the federal government.
The building is on the list of 52 lots of land which the federal government is returning to Sarawak.
“Yes, we do want to take back the post office building because it is an iconic and heritage building,” he said today after officiating at the Sarawak Level Maal Hijrah celebration, which was held at the Sarawak Islamic Complex hall here.
Yesterday, Deputy Prime Minister Dato Sri Fadillah Yusof announced that the federal government has agreed to return 55 of the 224 lots of land which were acquired from the Sarawak and Sabah governments, in accordance with Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).
Fadillah disclosed the return involved 52 lots of land owned by Sarawak and three owned by Sabah. — DayakDaily
