KUCHING, July 27: With the highly anticipated Kuching Food Festival (KFF) 2023 just on the horizon, event organisers, contractors and vendors have kicked into high gear to make the final preparations before the three-week-long event opens to the public tomorrow (July 28) evening.
The atmosphere at the Kuching South City Council (MBKS) festival grounds is electric, with traffic already building up along Jalan Padungan as the city gears up for one of its most significant annual gatherings.
Deputy Premier and Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian is set to officially open the festival this Saturday (July 29) at 5.30pm, followed by a fireworks display to mark the start of KFF 2023.
During a visit by DayakDaily early this afternoon, food stalls and canvas tents were already set up, and vendors and business owners were buzzing with anticipation, ready to showcase their products and services.
The festival will boast 330 food and beverage stalls, including the Unesco Creative Cities Network (UCCN) Chef’s Table at the Kuching Creative City pavilion. They will be stacked with an array of delectable treats, ranging from mouthwatering street food and gourmet delicacies to traditional and international flavours.
The Indoor Trade Fair will feature 100 booths exhibiting a wide variety of products including technology-related items, machinery, fitness equipment, telecommunication devices, furniture, household goods, clothing, accessories and many more.
Familiar rides, games of skills and garden displays will also make a return for families to enjoy.
Moreover, entertainment stages have been meticulously set up, promising a captivating lineup of performances, including Chinese traditional music concerts, folk dances, martial art displays, various competitions and contests that will keep visitors entertained throughout the festival.
Visitors also stand a chance to win exciting lucky draw prizes, which include three motorcycles, two foldable bicycles, as well as laptops and smartwatches.
Behind the scenes, the event organiser has been working tirelessly to ensure a seamless and safe experience for everyone attending.
As the clock ticks down to the official kick-off, the festival grounds are adorned with colourful decorations, and the atmosphere transforms into a vibrant tapestry of lights and music.
KFF 2023 which promises to be a celebration of food, culture, music and community spirit, kicks off on July 28 and will run all the way until Aug 20. — DayakDaily
