KUCHING, Sept 1: The Magistrate’s Court here handed down a sentence of RM2,000 or three months’ imprisonment to a food delivery driver for threatening to kill four of his co-workers with a kitchen knife.
Samsol Saimi, 47, employed as a food delivery driver at a fast-food restaurant, pleaded guilty to the charge read before Magistrate Mason Jaro Lenya Barayan.
According to the charge, he was accused of intentionally uttering words of intent to kill four of his co-workers, aged between 19 and 26, while brandishing a kitchen knife.
He committed the offence at a workers’ hostel at Tabuan Tranquility around 12.30am on August 28.
Samsol was charged under Section 506 of the Penal Code, which carries a penalty of imprisonment for up to seven years, or with a fine, or with both, upon conviction.
According to the brief facts of the case, while the female complainant and three of her friends were underneath the workers’ hostel, they were approached by a man known as Samsul, who brandished a kitchen knife while uttering the words, “I’ll kill all of you.”
Investigations revealed that the accused had lost his temper due to work-related stress, leading him to carry a kitchen knife and subsequently threatening to harm all the victims.
The prosecution was conducted by Inspector Merylene Lindan Andrew Mang, while the accused was not represented by legal counsel. — DayakDaily
