KUCHING, Aug 12: As of Aug 10, the Kuching Food Festival (KFF) 2023 has recorded a remarkable 621,571 visitors over the course of 14 days since its opening night on July 28.
Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng hopes for the festival’s visitors to exceed its 2022 record of 1.13 million visitors or, at the very least, to achieve one million visitors by its conclusion.
“A new pinnacle was reached on Aug 5, as the festival witnessed an extraordinary nightly footfall of 81,058 visitors, surmounting the prior year’s record of 80,000 nightly visitors.
“With eight more days of festivities remaining, we hope there will be continuous support from the people,” he shared during his ShallWeeTalk live session with the community today.
Noting a comparatively smaller crowd in the last two days, Wee urged those who have yet to set foot within the festival grounds to visit and explore the myriad offerings of delectable, unique, and inventive cuisines.
“Moreover, there is also a diverse range of fascinating and affordable goods, particularly household products, available at the trade fair where I have bought so many products,” he added.
Wee also observed a significant number of visitors failing to scan the provided QR code upon entry, thus inadvertently missing out on the chance to participate in an enticing lucky draw featuring an array of prizes, including motorcycles, bicycles, tablets, and smartwatches.
“In this final stretch of the festival, we want to encourage people to ensure they scan their QR codes upon entry to partake in the prize drawing,” he reminded. — DayakDaily
