KUCHING, July 4: Several roads will be temporarily closed for the Kuala Baram Cycling Race 4.0, expected to take place this weekend on July 5 and 6.
In a statement, Miri District Police Chief Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah announced that the team time trial event will take place on July 5, whereas the highway event will be held on July 6.
The race will be held along Jalan Kuala Baram, Jalan Pesisir Pantai Miri-Bintulu, and the Pan Borneo Highway.
“On July 5 (tomorrow), road closures will be implemented at Jalan Kuala Baram starting from the Senadin traffic light until the Jalan Kampung Muhibbah junction starting 7am until 12pm.
“Later, on July 6 (Sunday), full road closure will be implemented at Jalan Bandaraya from 6am until 1pm,” he said.
In addition, temporary road closures will also be carried out along the race routes, which are:
- Jalan Marina Utama
- Jalan Brighton
- Jalan Luak
- Jalan Bakam
- Jalan Pesisir Pantai to Bekunu Junction
- Jalan Melor
- Jalan Bekenu
- Jalan Pan Borneo (starting from the Bekenu flyover)
- Jalan Miri Airport
“Along the race route of the competition, temporary and phased road closures will be implemented by the police to allow the event to proceed.
“Road users are advised to cooperate and follow the signals given by the police to ensure the smooth running of the competition. The public is also advised to plan their journeys during this event,” he said. — DayakDaily
