KUCHING, Dec 26: A new temporary evacuation centre (PPS) was activated in Kampung Lutong, Sebuyau, due to floods, making it the third active PPS in Sarawak to date.

According to an infographic report by Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), seven people from three families were evacuated to the PPS Kampung Lutong Hall.

“The PPS was activated by Sebuyau District Disaster Management Committee (DDMC) at 3.50pm today following continuous rain since Friday (Dec 23) and high tide.


“The victims in the affected area were also cut off from access to get food,” it said.

The other two active PPS are located at Kampung Rimba Padi, Serian, with 84 victims from 27 families and Kampung Koran Mawang, Serian, with 57 victims from seven families. — DayakDaily
