SIBU, Aug 17: 1 The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) Sibu Branch has seized 2,975kgs of cooking oil estimated to be worth RM 7,437.50 in a raid conducted in a house in Rantau Panjang residential area yesterday.
Its chief, Kelyn Bolhassan said the seizure was made after five days of surveillance based on intelligence of suspecting offence under Section 20 (1) of the Control of Supply Act 1961.
Any violation under the provisions of this Act may be subject to legal action where an individually be fined up to RM 1,000,000.00 or imprisonment not exceeding 3 years or both; Â and in the case of a company, the fine may be up to RM2 million.
“Since January 2021, KPDNHEP Sibu Branch has brought a total of 119 cases under the Act with a total seizure value of RM210,625.50. KPDNHEP Sibu Branch will continue to monitor to ensure that daily supply of essentials (such as the supply of cooking oil) are always sufficient during this Covid-19 pandemic,” he said.
