Kota Sentosa to see five-corner fight with SUPP’s Yap, DAP’s Kong, PSB’s Dr Lau, Aspirasi’s Tan and PBK’s Lue

KUCHING, Dec 6: There will be a five-corner fight in Kota Sentosa involving SUPP, DAP, PSB, Aspirasi, and PBK.

Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) candidate Yap Yau Sin will face off with Michael Kong Feng Nian from Democratic Action Party (DAP), Datuk Dr Lau Pang Heng from Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB), Tan Kok Chiang from Sarawak People’s Aspiration Party (Aspirasi), and Lue Cheng Hing from Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK).


Returning Officer Goh Thiam Ho announced in the Kota Sentosa public library at 10.27am today that the Election Commission (EC) had received nomination papers from all candidates, and none had been disqualified.

Tan was allocated number one, followed by Lau (second), Yap (third), Kong (fourth), and Lue (fifth).

Goh also announced that early voting will be on Dec 14 (Tuesday) and polling day on Dec 18 (Saturday).

The incumbent for this constituency is Chong Chieng Jen. He retained the seat for the third time in the 11th Sarawak Election (PRN11) against Yap with a majority of 2,819 votes.

However, in this year’s polls, Chong did not contest in Kota Sentosa.

There are 25,863 registered voters in the Kota Sentosa seat. — DayakDaily
