KUCHING, June 6: Residents of Lorong Semaba 7 can now breathe a sigh of relief with the completion of a new concrete drainage infrastructure, which is a rural transformation programme (RTP) project costing RM250,000.
According to a press release, the project, located at the T-junction of Lorong Semaba 7, addresses long-standing drainage and flooding issues in the area.
With the completion of this phase, residents can now look forward to improved water flow, reduced flood risk, and better overall living conditions.
Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap, along with officers from the Padawan Municipal Council (MPP), visited Lorong Semaba 7 today to witness the official completion of the project, where Yap also took the time to engage with residents and inspect the completed project.
“This is more than just a drainage upgrade—it is a commitment to ensure that every part of Kota Sentosa is not left behind in terms of infrastructure.
“Too many of our older residential areas still suffer from outdated or insufficient basic amenities. I am working tirelessly to correct that,” said Yap in the press release.
Meanwhile, MPP officers also carried out a survey and assessment on the opposite side of the same T-junction and another stretch of earth drains at Jalan Semaba, adjacent to Lorong Semaba 11, where the next phase of infrastructure improvement is planned.
Both upcoming RTP 2026 drainage upgrading projects involve the proposed construction of concrete drains, with a combined estimated cost of RM400,000. MPP engineers are currently preparing the Bill of Quantities for project implementation.
“Development cannot be concentrated in one area. As your elected representative, I will continue to press for improvements—street by street, lorong by lorong—so that all residents of Kota Sentosa enjoy the benefits of proper, modern infrastructure,” said Yap, reaffirming his commitment to pushing forward with infrastructure projects under RTP and other government allocations.
He added that infrastructure is not just about roads and drains, but also about dignity, safety, and improving the quality of life for the people he serves.
“I will not rest until every kampung, taman, and lorong in Kota Sentosa sees tangible progress,” he said. — DayakDaily
