“After the completion of the first phase of the upgrading of Kota Sentosa Town Square which costs RM500,000, the local community requested the installation of louvres and awnings.

“They also requested the main hall floor area to be further extended with railings for the stage, as well as new electrical wirings for the existing lights which are not in working condition due to faulty old wiring,” he said in a Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) report today.

The second project is to upgrade the existing car parks at the 7th Mile Penrissen Road Community Association at a cost of RM30,000.

“The resurfacing of the carpark area of 7th Mile Penrissen Road Community Association was requested by the committee due to potholes and an uneven surface.

“A portion of the community hall currently serves as a funeral parlour for the local communities with an average of 10 to 15 families using the funeral parlour every month,” he explained.

Upon being notified of the approval, he visited both project sites with several local community leaders and officers from the Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) to finalise the scope of works and bill of quantities.

During the visit, Yap also requested MPP officers to promptly complete the scope and specification together with the bill of quantities so that both projects can commence as soon as possible for the benefit of locals. — DayakDaily
