KUCHING, May 9: Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap, accompanied by officers from Kuching South City Council (MBKS) as the implementing agency, visited the back lane of Lorong 5/1 in Taman Hui Sing to address the persistent problem of flash floods in the area.
According to a press release from Yap, RM200,000 has been allocated under his approved 2023 Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) funding to upgrade existing drains to prevent and mitigate frequent flash floods, as well as fund back lane repairs.
The visit was specifically arranged by MBKS’ Engineering Department to hand over the Letter of Award (LOA) for the upgrading works to Zimco Enterprise.
“During the visit, YB Wilfred Yap requested MBKS officers to diligently monitor and supervise the upgrading works to ensure that the contractor carry out the upgrading works in accordance with the scope of works and bill of quantities without delay and with minimal inconvenience to the residents of the area.
“YB Wilfred Yap will also coordinate with MBKS and the contractor to ensure that there will be no delay in the completion of this RTP upgrading project.
“Further RTP projects for the Kota Sentosa constituency are expected to be handed over to contractors in the near future as efforts continue to resolve dilapidated infrastructure problems,” read the press release.
Yap said he is committed to ensure that all infrastructure facilities in N12 Kota Sentosa are satisfactory and will continue to apply for more development funding. — DayakDaily
