KUCHING, Sept 7: Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap has presented a Minor Rural Project (MRP) grant of RM60,000 to the school board of SJK (C) Sam Hap Hin in Kota Sentosa here to assist them in improving and upgrading various school facilities.
It is in accordance with the Sarawak Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government’s commitment to ensuring that aided Chinese primary schools continue to provide the best education to students of all races and religions, according to a statement from Yap.
“This morning, Yap officiated the opening ceremony of a seminar on children’s safety organised by the Sarawak Women for Women Society (SWWS) for students at SJK (C) Sam Hap Hin.
“Yap thanked SWWS for organising the seminar, which will teach school children about personal safety and how to set boundaries when making friends and using social media platforms,” the statement read.
Yap also reminded the students to stay united as ‘Anak Sarawak’ and study hard in order to become useful citizens who can contribute positively to Sarawak’s progress and development.
Furthermore, the Kota Sentosa assemblyman congratulated SWWS on its numerous contributions to communities since its inception, including its commitment to assist in situations that have a negative impact on the lives of women and children.
“During the event, Yap presented SWWS with a RM5,000 MRP grant to assist them in organising more community-based training seminars and activities aimed at empowering women and children through knowledge.” — DayakDaily
