KUCHING, April 10: Kota Sentosa Health Clinic is set to receive further upgrades under an additional RM300,000 allocation from the Rural Transformation Project (RTP) 2025, secured through the initiative of Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap.
According to a press release, Yap, who visited the clinic today with officers from the Public Works Department (JKR), said the funding would support critical improvements, including the construction of a covered motorcycle parking area, upgrades to the administrative office and meeting room, installation of awnings and a motorised roller shutter, as well as mechanical and electrical works, general repairs, and repainting.
Accompanied by JKR engineers, Dr Janette Michael, and clinic staff, Yap conducted an inspection to identify priority areas for improvement.
He emphasised the importance of upgrading the facility swiftly to ensure it meets current healthcare standards, citing its role in serving hundreds of families daily.
“It is our duty to ensure that the people receive care in a safe and dignified environment.
“With these RTP funds, we will act decisively to modernise infrastructure, reduce wait times, and enhance accessibility,” Yap was quoted as saying.
Yap assured that he would personally oversee the progress of the RTP project to ensure timely and effective implementation, adding that the scope of works would reflect the needs of the local community.
He also commended the collaboration between JKR and the clinic, stating, “This partnership reflects our shared goal—to prioritise people over paperwork.
“We are not just making plans; we are systematically delivering the necessary upgrades.”
This latest RTP funding follows a series of upgrades initiated by Yap at the clinic, including a RM250,000 project for additional car parks, a RM12,000 upgrade to the pharmacy dispensing area, and a RM35,000 contribution for new triage counters, air coolers, and chairs for the waiting area.
Known for his proactive and people-first approach, Yap continues to champion healthcare access and infrastructure development in Kota Sentosa. — DayakDaily
