KUCHING, Sept 13: Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah departed for Kuala Lumpur today after completing their inaugural “Kembara Kenali Borneo” your of Sabah and Sarawak.
They were sent off from Kuching International Airport KIA) by State dignitaries led by Acting Head of State (TYT) Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar and his wife Puan Sri Dato Fatimah Mohd Iskandar.
Also present were Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and his wife Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang, Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan and his wife Datuk Dayang Morliah Awang Daud, Deputy Premier Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian, Sarawak cabinet ministers and deputy ministers, Sarawak State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki and senior government officers.
Earlier, Their Royal Highnesses and children Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah, Tengku Ahmad Ismail Mu’adznam Shah and Tengku Amir Nasser Ibrahim Tengku Arif Bendahara Ibrahim arrived at the KIA VVIP lounge at around 3.30pm before their departure at about 4.20pm.
The King and Queen have been in East Malaysia since Sept 3 when they began their journey from Tawau, Sabah with a stopover in the neighbouring country of Brunei. The royal entourage proceeded to travel along the Pan Borneo Highway across Sarawak. Today (Sept 13) was the last day of their tour with their last stop at the ‘zero kilometre’ mark at the seaside village of Telok Melano in Lundu District.
Over the course of their tour, Their Majesties have travelled a total distance of 2,154 kilometres. — DayakDaily
