KUCHING, Mar 1: Datu Khalidi Ibrahim has been officially appointed as the new Mufti of Sarawak effective tomorrow (Mar 2).
In a Facebook post, the Sarawak Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim) said the appointment is a recognition of Khalidi’s scholarly authority, experience, and leadership.
“We are confident that with wisdom and firmness grounded in Islamic principles, the State’s fatwa institution will continue to be strengthened for the well-being of the Muslim community and the harmony of society as a whole.
“May Allah SWT always grant him good health, strength, and guidance in carrying this great responsibility,” said the department.
Khalidi’s appointment followed the retirement of Datu Kipli Yassin after 16 years of service on Feb 28.
The handover of duties ceremony is expected to take place tomorrow. — DayakDaily
