MIRI, Nov 20: A public awareness programme on keeping rivers clean initiated by the state government reflects its continued commitment and efforts in enlightening the community of the importance of keeping rivers free from pollution.

Transport Minister Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin said, thus, the community’s active participation in the programme is vital to ensure rivers and other water resources are protected.

Speaking to the programme participants at Kampung Muhibbah Kuala Baram today, he hoped more people would be aware of the importance of looking after rivers.

“Not only is it an important source of water for us and home to many types of animals and plants, but it is also a crucial mode of transportation for those in the rural areas,” he said.
