KUCHING, June 27: Kuching Division Journalists Association (KDJA) has presented five oxygen generators to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) yesterday (June 26).

Its chairman Ronnie Teo Teck Wei said the donation was made in response to the call by the Sarawak Federation of Chinese Associations (SFCA) to assist the SGH which is currently facing insufficient medical equipment in light of the battle against Covid-19 pandemic.

“KDJA started the LOVE Donation campaign mid-June and received support and donations from the general public and the media in just one week, obtaining sufficient funds to purchase one oxygen generator.

“The other oxygen generators were donated by Kelab Mirage Sarawak, Datin Amar Kathryn Wee Yuk Lian, Jong Nyong Moi and the Yu Yang 111 Team and Heart Charity Group,” said Teo in a statement today.

Apart from that, Kelab Mirage Sarawak also donated 10 ventilators to SGH.

On behalf of the Association and the donors, Teo thanked the healthcare frontliners especially those at SGH, for their dedication and hard work in both the fight against the pandemic as well as keeping the healthcare system going.

“We hope this donation of medical equipment can help to better equip SGH and reduce the burden of medical staff,” he added.

At the same time, SFCA president Datuk Richard Wee thanked the donors for their generosity and said the SFCA would continue to support and donate medical equipment to the hospital in the future.

“The equipment donated this time are all equipment needed by the hospital. Apart from this, we also donate supplies to families and organisations in need,” he said. — DayakDaily
